Hey there, I’m Miss Audrey

...and I was in special education up to 5th grade.

I know the anxiety that comes with being a struggling reader, because I was that child.

Reading was always hard, and I had to rely on other ways to learn to do well in school.  I didn’t realize how the letters worked together to form words, and I wasn't sure how to handle the long words.

I started teaching reading to my kindergarteners and realized that what I learned in college wasn’t equipping my kids to learn to read.

I knew there had to be a better way.

I began researching and realized there was so much out there, and everyone had the ‘solution’ to the reading problems.

  • I learned about the speech-to- print and print-to-speech approaches.

  • I discovered the pros and cons of Orton-Gillingham

    approach.

  • I noticed that language,

    reading, and writing are

    interrelated.

  • The best reading support begins by finding your child’s biggest point of need and building from there.

As I researched and received more training, I realized that my reading skills were improving.

But it wasn’t from just one program.

That’s when I knew that there wasn’t just a one-sized fits all approach to reading and writing, but that there were many different ways children learn and some kids need more explicit instruction beyond the sound/letter relationship.

It was then that I founded Audrey Tutors.

I wanted a place where parents could feel comfortable to ask questions and get the support they need to help their struggling child.
